It is with great regret that we must cancel this year’s Thames Punting Club Championship regatta.
Unfortunately, the weather over the coming few days has conspired against us, despite the fact the weather looks likely to have improved on Sunday. The tentage has been cancelled due to safety considerations, leaving us with no facilities. In addition, the likelihood is that although winds will have decreased from Saturday, gusts of 30mph plus are still forecast. These will still affect safe racing; therefore, we are left with little choice but to cancel this year.
Our apologies to all competitors and spectators – this year we had an increase in the number of races and having been part of the regatta draw last weekend, I think this year we would have had some exceptional and tight races and a regatta to look forward to.
With luck things will return to normal next year and to all those that were competing and planning on attending this year we hope to see you next year.
